This project focused on hard-surface modeling, specifically something large and mechanical. The poly limit was 10,000 tris. I’ve always loved space and science-fiction as a genre, so here we have a Homeworld 2-inspired piece: an unused design for a Hiigaran Interceptor. This particular craft’s concept art was conceived by Jon Aaron Kambeitz at Relic Entertainment. I built the base and high-poly models in 3ds Max, baked the highpoly normals onto the base, and textured the diffuse, specular, bump and opacity maps in Photoshop CS5.
